The many benefits to your student being on LinkedIn

Published almost 3 years ago • 1 min read

Hello Reader!

I am now posting weekly on our brand new website on the Flourish Resources page. You can read pasts posts there - and watch my videos too!

This week, I have a video of when I was teaching a college class on students using LinkedIn - my framework works for high school and college students. There are 3 main benefits your family will learn to equip the journey to future flourish:

  • Make Connections
  • Conduct Career Research
  • Find Work

To get started with LinkedIn, download the step-by-step guide on building a profile specific for students, not working adults.

My curated resource this week comes from Michael Hyatt, Business Coach (disclaimer, I'm part of his Business Accelerator [BA] program for my own business coaching). Yes, I need a coach too!

I'm sharing his post, Shift the Drift, which was written for leaders because I think it's useful in leading our children too. In BA, we learn there are 3 approaches to life: Drifting, Driven, and Designed.

One of the most common concerns I hear from parents is my teen is unmotivated on engaging in future planning. My question to you is are you allowing them to DRIFT toward their future or are you together DESIGNING it which takes time and intention?

Conversation Cues:
The next time your child is hesitating, nervous, scared, not taking action, first ask what their concern is. Stop. Listen.
Then ask (not tell or solve) but what could go right if you tried it despite the feelings you are having?

Until next week - have a great one!

My Best Always, Lisa

PS If you missed my free webinar, The Ideal Time for College Major - Career Planning, it's now posted inside our Launch Facebook Community.

Something from Lisa I recently interviewed Luisa Rabe who has helped nearly 1,000 students get admitted to medical school. She provides great insight into what high school and college students can be doing to get clear on IF this is a good fit for them as well as what to pursue early to increase their chances at acceptance. If your student has considered any health related field, you won't want to miss her valuable insights. Watch or listen to our interview on the path to medical school here....

Something from Lisa I recently hired a new student intern....honestly, I wish I had time to hire more! Via, short for Olivia, stood out from the other applicants. Read this week's blog to learn how she stood out then share with your student to apply it to their own search for an internship or co-op. With so many leaving the work force and many open positions nationwide, I just have to believe the time is ripe for student internships. Get hot tips in this week's blog - read it. A Curated...
